Renewable energy surveying is supporting the delivery of the Mortlake Energy Hub, a major hybrid renewable energy development in south-west Victoria. Smith Land Consulting is providing a broad range of surveying and spatial services across this approximately 1,060-hectare project, supporting the project team from design and pre-construction through to delivery.
Developed by Yanara, the Mortlake Energy Hub combines utility-scale solar generation with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) infrastructure. The development will connect directly to the existing Mortlake Terminal Station, enabling renewable energy to be generated, stored and dispatched during periods of high electricity demand.
Renewable energy surveying in Victoria
Large-scale renewable energy projects require accurate spatial information throughout their lifecycle. For the Mortlake Energy Hub, Smith Land Consulting’s multidisciplinary surveying capability provides continuity of information across cadastral, engineering, construction and spatial surveying requirements.
Our involvement includes the establishment and maintenance of project survey control, along with feature and level surveys across the project site and surrounding infrastructure. UAV and LiDAR surveys provide detailed topographic and spatial data to assist with informed planning, design and construction decisions.
Cadastral and title re-establishment surveys also form part of the project scope, providing accurate information about property and title boundaries across this extensive regional site.
Surveying support from planning through to construction
As the Mortlake Energy Hub progresses, Smith Land Consulting is providing construction set-out and ongoing survey support to help translate project designs accurately on site. As-built surveys and documentation capture completed works and provide reliable spatial records for the project team.
Our services extend below ground through underground utility locating and surveying, helping identify existing infrastructure and providing important information for construction planning and coordination.
Smith Land Consulting is also supporting subdivision and cadastral planning, the creation of easements associated with project infrastructure and electrical connections, and the preparation of lease plans.
Bringing these surveying services together through one team helps maintain consistent spatial information across different stages and disciplines on a complex infrastructure project.
Collaborating on a major Victorian renewable energy project
Smith Land Consulting is working alongside client and developer Yanara, planner Urbis, delivery partner Gamuda and the broader project team. This collaborative approach supports the coordination required for a renewable energy development of this scale.
The Mortlake Energy Hub demonstrates Smith Land Consulting’s capability to provide comprehensive renewable energy surveying across large regional sites, from early spatial data capture and cadastral work through to construction support and final documentation.
